LATCHES was founded in February 1997. It is a non-profit support and discussion group for submissive women who have real-time, physical experience in a D/s with some aspect of BDSM practiced. LATCHES strives to provide its members with a safe and supportive venue in which to talk about their lives, discuss problems or issues of concern to submissives, and make new friends.
The public website has been assembled as a resource for those interested in learning more about submission. It is an amalgam of things put together from many different viewpoints over many years. It presents many faces of submission and submissive life. It is what it is, take it or leave it.
What LATCHES is not…
LATCHES does not try to be all things to all submissives. If you find something here you like, that is great. If you don’t agree, that’s fine too. We do not try to be all things to all people. We strive to meet the needs of a majority of the membership by providing a forum for discussion. A vast majority of our members are submissive women. Though we try to be accepting of all views and practices, we are all only human and therefore imperfect beings. We sometimes fall short of the mark in the eyes of others. . . but then again, we aren’t looking to be perfect in their eyes. We hope to be as good as we can be within our own relationships.
There have been plenty of women to come and go through the group over the past years. Some leave because of personal and unspoken reasons while others leave for reasons they make clear are important to them. Again, we do not try to be a perfect solution for everyone . . . we don’t try to be a ‘perfect’ anything. That is an impossible task. When the group has not met a member’s needs, the best thing to do is find the next step that will meet their needs and expectations. In that way, LATCHES can be a stepping stone, a means to an end but not the end in and of itself.
