Hey everyone!
Thanks for stopping by PDX BDSM. We are hoping to be your first stop in the PDX kink community, hopefully leading on to bigger and better adventures along the way! We have a very simple mandate:
To represent, with power and pride, the residents of the kink community in and around Portland, Oregon. To focus on education and resources for those in our community, whether brand new or well-tenured. To be a centralized resource for the community. To represent all sides and aspects of the community. Finally, it is our goal to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable and free to express themselves fully.
It’s a lofty goal, but we’ve been blessed with being around some of the greatest kinksters in the world, so this shouldn’t be too terribly difficult. So welcome aboard. We’re glad you’re here and hope you do take time to stop by our Introduction Thread in order to let folks know who you are.
Please be sure to EXPAND and READ all of the rules below, before deciding to join, or any time you need a refresher.
Rules:
- Be nice. No, this doesn’t mean you have to cross-check Miss Manners to ensure that what you’re doing is perfect, you just have to have a modicum of respect for your fellow kinksters, perverts, vanilla folks, and Rand or Alebeard (depending on the day).
- Do ask questions. No one knows everything, but we all know a lot. If you’re curious, just ask. Trust me, no one will make fun of you for it.
- But don’t argue the answer. If you don’t know something and want clarification, ask.. but don’t argue if you don’t agree. No one here is professing to be an absolute expert on anything, so don’t think that their word is the be-all, end-all.
- Religious and political discussions ARE allowed… so long as you are polite. We’re adults and are able to have adult conversations, feel free to discuss, but feel free to shut the eff up if your goal is trolling or flaming.
- Your kink is ok and THEIR kink is ok. You should have a similar mindset. If someone’s promoting their event and you don’t agree with their particular proclivity.. great, just please don’t go into their thread and start throwing around judgements.
- Your personal ad is ok… for now. There are other groups dedicated to personal ads that do quite well in getting people what they want and need. For now you’re still allowed to post ads here, but this may change in the future. Additionally, if your ad involves any sort of exchange of money for guaranteed sex, then leave it out of here. Correct: “admission to the party is $15 and we hope you have fun!” Incorrect: “$15 and she make you holla.” Got it? Great. Please read our updated sticky post on the topic of personal ads, before you consider posting an ad here.
- Above all, the owner and admins are the authority around here. We do try to keep things pretty open, so you’re rarely going to get us nosing into your business.
And that’s it. We want this to be a fun and open atmosphere and tried to enact rules that will basically preserve that. Essentially, the whole thing boils down to “Be an adult.” You all are grown ups (for the most part) and know how to act accordingly.
